About Dermapedia

What Dermapedia is, who writes it, and the rules we follow.

What Dermapedia is

Dermapedia is a skin encyclopedia. It explains skincare ingredients, skin conditions, medications, and cosmetic procedures in plain English — with the evidence behind every claim.

Skincare is full of marketing. Medical journals are full of jargon. Dermapedia sits in between: accurate enough for a doctor, readable enough for everyone else.

Who writes it

Every page is written and medically reviewed by a board-certified, Harvard-affiliated dermatologist who treats these conditions in practice. We keep the byline simple — the credentials matter more than the name.

The rules we follow

No sponsored content. No brand partnerships, no paid placements, no affiliate pressure. Product mentions are based on formulation and evidence only.

Evidence first. Every page cites peer-reviewed research, summarized in plain language. See how we grade evidence.

Plain English. A 9th-grade reading level is the goal. When a medical term is needed, we explain it.

Not medical advice. Dermapedia is for education only. It does not create a doctor–patient relationship. Always see a qualified clinician about your own skin.
