Researchers gathered every published study of oxymetazoline 1% cream up to June 2022, covering 2,298 people, and combined the results. About 38% improved by two grades on the doctor's redness rating at four weeks. Looking closely at skin tolerance, dryness was reported by 23%, scaling by 17%, and stinging or burning by 15%. Rebound redness was rare, at 1%. The caution worth noting: this compares oxymetazoline against its own placebo, not against brimonidine.
