A gentle cleanser like this is enough for most people. In the morning especially, skin does not need a deep, foaming wash. A mild cleanser that does not strip is often the better choice, and it leaves the barrier intact.
This formula cleans using mild non-ionic agents rather than sulfates or soap. That is gentle, but it also means it cannot emulsify water-resistant sunscreen in one pass, which is why a second cleanser helps at night.
