A rapidly changing magnetic field passing through tissue induces an electrical current in the nerves under it. Those nerves fire, and the muscle they supply contracts. Because the field is driven from outside and does not depend on your own nervous system's limits, the contraction can be stronger than anything you can produce voluntarily — the marketing word is supramaximal, and in this case it is accurate.
The paddle sits over a muscle group and cycles through contraction patterns for 30 minutes. Some phases are rapid twitches, some are long sustained holds, and some are the tapping sequences that clear the lactic acid build-up. Over a course, the muscle responds the way muscle responds to heavy work: the fibers thicken, and in this case the muscle also appears to add fibers, which normal training does not usually do to a measurable degree.
The result is a thicker, firmer muscle. On the abdomen that reads as a flatter, more supported-looking midsection and often a small reduction in waist measurement, because a tighter abdominal wall holds the contents in better. On the buttocks it reads as a lift.
The critical limitation is simple. This affects muscle and nothing else. It does not remove fat, and muscle sits underneath fat. If there is a substantial fat layer over the muscle, the change happens and you cannot see it.
